The itineraries included in
this section contain an harmonious balance of the
different elements present in the other cathegories.
So one can find combined together a visit to an art
city, an horse ride or hiking excursion along an
ancient route, a moment for some shopping (elegant
boutiques and artesan’s shops), the chance to taste
the fresh local cuisine, or that of visiting a
fortress or a castle of ancient origins, like the
fascinating Castel del Monte in South Italy, full of
still misterious meanings and values.
But the thread is given by a particular aspect, not
present in the other trips: the focus in fact, is on
the most interesting and oldest traditions proper of
a few Italian towns where the local folklore is
still so alive after centuries, as it reflects the
roots of the local inhabitants that, gradually in
time have harmonized with the culture of the ancient
populations who visited, conquered and lived in our
Country.
Therefore, the itineraries will be including special
“saghe” and commemorations, festivals and happenings
of various kind taking place here and there along
the Italian peninsula on specific dates. One of the
most famous events is surely the “Palio”, an horse
race taking place in Siena twice a year in
summertime. We provide, on the occasion, tickets to
enjoy this ancient, extraordinary
game from one of the balconies overlooking the
Piazza del Campo, the square where the race takes
place.
Other important events can have a more evident
religious connotation, as it is the case of the
“misteri” (June – Campobasso),or the touching
processions of the Holy Friday, accompanied by bands
performing old music and choirs of hundred members
that walk across the old districts of the towns.
