is then that you are ready to try one of the
fantastic trips through the Italian gastronomy: an
unforgettable experience made up of flavours,
parfums, colors which will enrich your spirit and
satisfy your palate!
From the Merlin’s trips you can choose to combine a
visit of some wonderful countryside, dotted with
hilly towns, medieval hamlets, archaeological sites
of absolute charme, and some of the best
Italian restaurants, trattorias, agriturismi and
relais where the must is a genuine, creative and
simple cuisine, with its traditional local dishes
that passioned and talented chefs realize using
exclusively seasonal ingredients.
This cathegory of travels includes cooking classes,
carried out by professional chefs; wine tasting in
some of the most enchanting castles of Italy;
temathic dinners;
guided visits of the local food markets;
participation to special gastronomic events all over
the Italian peninsula, according to the season (grape
harvesting in September-October; olive harvesting in

Dante Alighieri, the father of
the Italian language, sent into exile far from his
beloved Florence, mourned for the beauty of the
Baptistry and the special taste of the Tuscan
saltless bread.
Florence is a world of beauty and harmony with its
characteristic savour, that of its unique local
cuisine, boasting dishes in which one can finds well
balanced the tastes of tradition and nature.
Sorrounded by the wonderful contryside of the
Chianti hills, with its rows of vines and olive
grooves, Elena Mattei’ s cooking school “Cucina con
vista”finds a perfect location in an ancient Villa
and wine estate where her guests will find
professionality, experience, and the warmest of the
welcoming.
The chef Elena will share with her guests the
secrets of her own family restaurant in Florence, in
which she has worked for many years. A whole world
of tradition and skill in gastronomy will be
revealed to you, with the freshness of the
ingredients, the semplicity of the best cuisine and
the excellent taste of dishes masterly prepared by
Elena, with her talent and care.
The guests will take part to the cooking as far as
they wish to, and the whole preparation will be
carried out in harmonious combination with the
selection of the ingredients – some taken directly
from the garden - and the matching of the wines
chosen from the estate’s cellar .
The cooking class will always end up with a lunch
featuring the dishes prepared during the lesson,
from the appetizers to the dessert. The level of a
lesson can vary according to the requirements of
each group (max. 10 people), starting from beginners
to gourmet.
On request, Elena will take her guests on a
“gastronomic tour” featuring the local food markets,
the historical Tuscan gardens and orchards, stopping
here and there to taste some of the fresh local
produce.
Moreover during grape and olive harvesting, it will
be possible to book an unforgettable experience:
that of taking part to some of the major events in
Italian agricultural tradition.
